Location was perfect. Just 10 min from Eilean Donan Castle. Excellent t makeover and terrific amenities in room. Full size towels and a cute complimentary basket. Great lodge feel downstairs in the community room and easy access to the loch.

The location is great, and the staff was friendly. They agreed to accommodate our late check-in by waiting 30 minutes for us (though we didn't end up needing it) and allowed us to store our luggage for the afternoon after checkout.

We loved that they went the extra mile with providing simple things like fresh fruit, cereal, coffee, and milk in the room. Host was very friendly, and their little fox terrier was adorable. The host's youngest daughter just had a birthday, and they even gave us some birthday cake! Yum! We also loved the beautiful grounds on the property. Highly recommend!

There are so many different things to access from Kyle of Lochalsh. As well as Skye, there are many tourist attractions and beauty spots on the mainland too. We could have done more on Skye, as well as more things close by.

Staff and evening food good.breakfast was ok. The hotel itself is well over priced, and the rooms we had had a lovely view bushes and gas storage tank. I have stayed in better hotels for up to a third of the price. Talking to other guests they were as dissatisfied as we were but like us had no other options.

Relatively expensive compared to other accommodation booked for our 12 day trip. Hotel felt a bit tired and dated. No hairdryer in room and ironing board provided was faulty. Bed was ok but moved too easily if pressed onto. Restaurant was full when we arrived at 7pm, so ate in the bar. Food was ok, but nothing to write home about and adequate selection. Wonderful views. Fishing boats moving across the water very restful. Bus near station only a few minutes away from Bothy, takes an hour to Portree on Skye. Train to Plockton 19 minutes. Wish we had had time for the boat trip from Kyle harbour. Hector's Bothy cafe often bustling, Pizza Mia freshly made carry outs good (haggis and red onion topping), Cafe opposite traffic lights friendly and welcoming. Very well stocked Co-op. Train journey to Kyle glorious, but a car might be better for exploring (good parking next to flat.)AAnonymous - 8.0Scored 8.0

Fabulous location, lovely room. Evening bar and restaurant excellent. Evening staff excellent Breakfast - not good for the price of hotel, stern unhelpful staff member. Had to ask for water in the tea urn, wouldn’t serve hot porridge and then the hot breakfast later. We would have stayed longer had we known about it and used it as a base for Skye as the hotel we headed to was extremely expensive and compared to this hotel and the staff here we knew we were getting ripped off. Balmacara is lovely and we would go back in a heartbeat.Linda

We had a very comfortable two nights there and appreciated the milk and cold water provided in the mini fridge, as well as the porridge. I absolutely recommend this place!!! My only warning is, getting dinner nearby is a major issue right now and I would recommend contacting restaurants nearby (on the isle of Skye) to make a reservation for each night you are here. We did not and really struggled to find some place each night.

Andy the owner greeted us on arrival, his cheerful manner was first class and nothing was too much trouble for him. There was seven of us in our party (all men) and although he was on his own he managed to keep us fully served with beer, crisp, nuts etc. The evening meal was also excellent, so all in all we will hopefully back in September, thank you Andy.
